AtlasShip assigns Delhivery surface or express based on weight, the number of boxes, and whether the lane is serviceable. You still see one waybill and one support team. The partner does the linehaul. The booking, the quote, and the timeline stay in your account.
Why the assignment is not random
A heavy multi-box consignment and a light document are not the same product. Surface is the default when chargeable weight is high and the transit time is acceptable. Express is for lanes and parcels where the shorter transit is what you paid for. Serviceability decides whether the pincode can be picked up or delivered at all. An out-of-delivery-area pincode can still move, with a surcharge shown on the quote.
Coverage runs across 18,000+ pincodes through Delhivery. That is broad, and it is not universal. A pincode that fails the serviceability check cannot be booked. Forcing it through a second carrier account does not make the address deliverable.
What you are supposed to see
One order. One waybill or LR number. A status that moves from booked, to in transit, to out for delivery, to delivered. Live scans come from Delhivery, so the timeline on AtlasShip should match the partner scan, not a separate story.
Support is the same team whether the box is on surface or express. When something stalls, the useful details are the order id, the waybill, and the last status. A pickup that has not happened after 48 hours, excluding Sundays and public holidays, is an escalation. A shipment with no tracking updates for more than 10 days is a search with the partner.
What stays your job
The network does not repack a carton or correct an address after pickup. You choose the weight category, seal the box, and have someone at the pickup address. The partner scans what you handed over.
- Book only serviceable pincodes
- Let the quote pick surface or express from weight and boxes
- Keep the waybill; it is the handle for tracking and support
- Report damage within 48 hours of the delivery attempt, with photos
A partner network is useful when you never have to learn a second login to find your box.
If you are choosing a lane today, start with the rate and the serviceability check. The assignment happens after that, and the waybill is what you keep.

Booked the first carton from one login. The quote showed the extra charge before we paid.

Useful when the lane changes. A single carrier contract is still simpler when the route never does.
